Xenanthias là một chi cá biển thuộc họ Anthiadidae. Chi này được lập bởi Regan vào năm 1908. Dựa theo quan hệ phát sinh loài của Tang và Chen (2025), chi Xenanthias được khôi phục từ tình trạng đồng nghĩa với Plectranthias.[1]
Từ nguyên
Mặc dù Regan không nêu rõ hàm ý của tên chi, nhưng tên gọi này có lẽ là sự kết hợp của xénos (ξένος; "kỳ lạ, ngoại lai") và còn Anthias là tên gọi một chi khác trong họ Anthiadidae, có thể là đề cập đến một loài anthias mới lạ.[1]

Đặc trưng
Gai vây lưng: 10; Tia vây lưng: 13–18; Gai vây hậu môn: 3; Tia vây hậu môn: 7 (ít khi là 6); Tia vây ngực: 12–17 (18 ở X. ahiahiata); Gai vây bụng: 1; Tia vây bụng: 5; Tia vây đuôi: 24–29.[1]
Phân bố
Các loài trong chi Xenanthias có phân bố tập trung ở khu vực Ấn Độ Dương - Thái Bình Dương. Xenanthias đều được tìm thấy ở vùng nước tương đối sâu (khoảng vài chục đến hơn 100 m).
