Bản mẫu này được sử dụng để tạo tham khảo hoặc liên kết ngoài đến World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS). Nó sử dụng {{cite web}} để tạo ra đầu ra và tự động chuyển thông tin nhà xuất bản đến bản mẫu đó. Nó cũng chứa một bảng tên các cơ sở dữ liệu, giúp người dùng không cần phải nhập tiêu đề và (các) biên tập viên của cơ sở dữ liệu. Cách sử dụng điển hình sẽ là: 

{{cite WoRMS |author= |year= |title= |id= |access-date=17 tháng 4 2026}}

Đối với một mục nhập thuộc một trong các cơ sở dữ liệu được đặt tên trong WoRMS, tham số bổ sung db= sẽ được sử dụng:

Nếu mục nhập không có trong một trong các tên cơ sở dữ liệu, có thể bỏ qua db=. Trường title= nên chứa định dạng Wiki cho chữ in nghiêng, nếu phù hợp. Để sử dụng mẫu này để tạo một mục nhập trong phần liên kết ngoài của một bài viết, hãy bỏ qua trường access-date=. Nếu trường author= bị thiếu hoặc trống, tác giả mặc định là "WoRMS" sẽ xuất hiện.

Ví dụ về kết quả đầu ra:

cho ra:

Đối với trích dẫn theo kiểu cs2, hãy sử dụng |mode=cs2:

Hiện tại, chúng tôi chấp nhận các cơ sở dữ liệu sau; khi sử dụng trong tham số |db=, chữ hoa, chữ thường hay chữ hỗn hợp đều không quan trọng. Nếu thiếu bất kỳ cơ sở dữ liệu nào, chúng có thể dễ dàng được thêm vào, vì vậy vui lòng hỏi.
