Game gacha là trò chơi điện tử sử dụng cơ chế gashapon. Gashapon là một loại máy bán hàng tự động của Nhật Bản, trong đó mọi người nhét một đồng xu vào để mua một viên đồ chơi ngẫu nhiên. Trong trò chơi gacha, người chơi trả tiền ảo (mua bằng tiền thật hoặc mua trong trò chơi) để có được các nhân vật hoặc trang bị ngẫu nhiên trong trò chơi có độ hiếm và mức độ hữu dụng khác nhau. Đây là một biến thể của cơ chế loot box, trong đó người chơi chi tiền để có được toàn bộ bộ vật phẩm ngẫu nhiên trong trò chơi.

Trò chơi Gacha thường là trò chơi di động được sản xuất tại Trung Quốc, Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc hoặc các nước châu Á khác, nơi chúng rất phổ biến. Chúng thường là những trò chơi F2P có thể chơi chỉ bằng cách sử dụng đơn vị tiền tệ ảo hoặc nhân vật nhận được miễn phí thông qua quá trình chơi trò chơi và luyện tập. Những trò chơi này kiếm tiền thông qua việc bán tiền ảo cho những người chơi muốn tiêu tiền thật để tiến bộ nhanh hơn hoặc cạnh tranh tốt hơn với những người khác. Những người chơi được gọi là "cá voi" (whale) có thể chi số tiền đáng kể cho trò chơi gacha, dẫn đến lo ngại về chứng nghiện cờ bạc.
